Goodbye

GOODBYE, to the things that make me smile, To those I can call my own, I will be gone for quite a while, But I will go without a moan, Or even come close to a groan, For I will continue a new style, But I shall not be alone, New things will make me smile. My time has come and that is fine, I don't want any regret, I have seen the stars and sun shine, But I bet I will meet a new brunette, That will also help me beget, A new son that is just as mine, That will comfort me and not forget, This is my time and that is fine. Without knowing what lies ahead, I lay here with no grief, Because I know there is no dread, Even though my time is brief, And soon I will be a walking leaf, With my arms widespread, I say hello to that belief, Knowing what lies ahead. As to thee I say goodbye, For this is my time to die. This poem reflects William Wordsworth and his poem "Farewell." In each of the poems we see the speaker talk about everything that had happened in his life and that he would miss it all. We also see the rhyme scheme used mostly by William Wordsworth, ababbaba cdcddcdc efeffefe gg. This reflects Roman Characteristics because we see poets around that time loved to talk about life, and details about it. Also they were taught back then to live life to the fullest without any regret because you only live once. Saying this "Goodbye" shows and reflects William Wordsworth nicely.

Macbeth Playlist

1. Maniac- Kid Cudi

This song is about how he keeps his inner maniac in side of him and releases it in certain periods. I think this really conveys Macbeth and how he tries to keep his cool but at some points releases his inner "maniac."

2. All I Want is You- Mac Miller

This song is about how the only thing on his mind is a girl. I think in a broad perspective this relates to Macbeth and power. Throughout the song he continues repeating how much he needs her and wants her, just as throughout the play Macbeth wants one thing, royalty.

3. Slight Work- Wale

This song is about how Wale gets through the day without having to do much. This connects with Macbeth because he focuses mainly on others doing his dirty work and only doing part of the work to achieve success.

4. What Are We Doing- B.O.B.

This song is shown to be Macduff's reign to power. It is about how they are questioning to themselves why they are letting things go on as they are. This relates to the play because people begin to wonder why Macbeth is getting all this power, and they feel obliged to doing something.

5. Feeling Good- Micheal Buble

This song is about how he is starting his streak of success and begins to feel really good. This relates to Macbeth because him and Lady Macbeth are getting away with what they have done, as well as get what they want, making them feel good.

This song is about that no one is ever safe. This connects with Macbeth because just as he feels safe, he has to confront more and more battles with his past and present.

7. Runnin’ (Dying to Live)- Tupac

This song is about staying alive without adversity and complication. This is like Macbeth. He keeps running from his problems. But as the song ends it proves that no one is ever safe and can't run forever, just as Macbeth.

8. Living Proof- Eminem

This song displays Macbeth in every way. It describes that people are not perfect and everyone is hiding something, some more than others. It says that although we feel that no one knows about us or what we have done, we are always a living proof of what had happened, like Macbeth.

9. Warning Shot- Machine Gun Kelly

This song is about a warning shot that shows that someone is very close to defeat. Macbeth not killing Fleance is his "warning shot" that he is close to being overthrown and also put in danger.

10. Monster-Kanye West

This song is about all of the evil of humanity and what can come about of it. This describes Macbeth perfectly. It talks about greed, evil, murder, and so on. This perfectly describes what a monster Macbeth is and how he won't be stopped until he is killed.

Women's Ability to Gain Power

In Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth, we see Lady Macbeth portrayed as a character full of evil and only in it for her to obtain power. Although she is characterized as a woman with calamitous qualities, she has passion and ambition to achieving her destination of having power. Today we see woman, in a sense, shown in the same way; full of eagerness and anxiety to achieve something they want or need. It seems though the only way for a woman to be able to achieve success they must liberate their masculinity first. In order to gain power the woman must first show that they are not afraid of anything in their paths and must also show fortitude in their daily lives. Reasoning for why women must act this way is because they have to be tenacious. No one, even other woman, would want their leader to be weak or temperamental because they need someone who is going to not back down to anything. This is most likely why women tend to act more like men in order to achieve power; men often aren’t as fanatical. So how do women then achieve power and success? Society tends to believe that acting as a man gets them power, but this is not always true. In modern time we see very inspirational and stern women that didn’t have to act like a man; Queen Elizabeth for example. She was a woman whose mother and brother were very young so she did not have a lot of emotional support. But because she was without this she had to do things on her own to achieve power. She became Queen and had very feministic approach on England but at the same time was not disdainful towards others. She showed that you did not have to show masculinity in order to acquire reward. Another example in modern times would be Margaret Thatcher, the first woman prime minister. She is a positive and lively person who generally has invigorating, inspiring, and energizing effect on others. She showed that women can have success and not have to show masculinity as well. All in all I believe woman and men have the same ability to achieve power, but it might be harder for woman to break the trend of continuous men power. They do not need to show any type of masculinity, but they need to be assertive, emphatic, and a great leader in order to achieve success and power.

Void

Through Macbeth and the Holocaust, many faultless lives were overtaken by envy and scorn, although each assassin perceived no guilt for what they had done. Adam Kirsch’s “Can You Learn Anything from a Void,” goes beneath the evil to see what was actually happening and what the killer had felt. The doctor Victor Capesius, whom he writes about, is at one point close with the Jewish people but then suddenly turns against them by becoming a German Nazi. Kirsch begins to explain that Capesius no longer voids, something experienced as a loss or privation, the view from another person and what the Jewish people might have felt like when he betrayed them. When he was sent to trial, Kirsch explains, that he was without any emotion when the topic of deception towards them was brought up. Instead of being one who was fighting against this he became someone who was for the cause of killing innocent people. This tied in with the discussion of right and wrong. Because he was with the Nazi force and no one was there to show him what he was doing wrong, he believed that he was doing the right thing. Kirsch shows that Capesius was full of no empathy or remorse for what he had done, even though he still had suffered the consequences for his actions. In Macbeth there is a very similar situation. Three murders killed Banquo for Macbeth in order for him to obtain the reign of king. Not abiding to their morals or principles the proceeded to kill him anyway. They did no feel remorse either for what they had done because they believed it was only what they were asked to do. Right or wrong is then brought into the picture once again. If the murderers were not to do as Macbeth had commanded they would have received no pay, and even could have lost their own lives. Instead they killed Banquo and didn’t understand that they were responsible for their actions even though it was for a different purpose. With seeing evil all around Kirsch then brings up a man named Konrad Jarausch. He was also part of the Nazi force but completely disagreed with it. He was a man that shared compassion with the Jews because he believed everyone had the right to be treated equally. Although he was doing what was wrong in other people’s minds, he was doing what was right after all and this shows that it’s the right thing if it comes from your heart and from God.

Globe Theatre

If I were going to venture to William Shakespeare's Globe Theatere during his lifetime it would be filled with many things I had never seen before but some things that are still common today. Established in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company and built by James Burbage, it was full of many wonderful actors. It could hold up to one thousand five hundred people. People of all sorts of authority were there, including the Queen. She would have much to say and watch and would be delighted each time she went to watch one of Shakespeare's plays. I would be seeing The Merchant of Venice most likely because of its humor yet dramatic ending with Shylock. It would have brought me to a deeper view of Shakespeare because of his deep meaning as well as his understanding of everything at that time. I would have been standing, not sitting, in the "Pit" as Queen Elizabeth would have called it because I was of no high reign of power, or wealth. I would have been a Commoner most likely and would have only had to pay 1 penny in the "Box Office" because of it. Looking around me I would see an open area where the actors could perform and everyone in the building could have a great view. The Globe was made primarily of wood they believe, and able to have a large capacity of 1500 mentioned above. Because it was full of people it would have most likely been loud until the play went on. During the play there would then be complete silence because rumor says that if you were interrupting the play, you would have been arrested and or executed. Watching the play I would know what is going on in the play because of the way they conveyed it. They would show complete emotion as well as a great setting, just as Shakespeare would have wanted. Even though there would be cruelty, murder, and very strange occurrences, I would approve of the actors because they are showing Shakespeare at his finest. Plays would be occurring during the day because there was no way to light the theater at night. Before and after the play I would be supporting my family on a farm most likely, and return home to do the same as soon as the play was over. With a day of rest I would save up my penny to go see another play later that week because I would be very interested.
